The SMIA website was launched in 2004 as a bold initiative to add some standardisation to the then chaotic new technology of cameras in mobile phones.
Since then, we have seen massive growth in this market and the transition to more complex cameras, including autofocus, zoom, reflowable cameras, new interfaces and more. We now have a large, competent industry and the standard is looking a little limited in scope.
SMIA Specifications covers a raw bayer output image sensor head: Those specify housing, mechanical interconnection, functionality, register set and electrical interface.
A functional specification fully standardises the control and image data interfaces.
SMIA members get free access to SMIA Members extranet area. Members have access to all SMIA specification, they can ask technical questions and even find new business in mobile imaging!
Registered SMIA members can now join SMIA news e-mailing list. This way you
will automatically receive information on all current updates on the SMIA
